BENEFIT FROM HEARNE'S CLOSE PROXIMITY TO TEXAS' POPULATION

Why should your company consider starting a new business in or moving operations to Hearne? Perhaps the most important consideration is Hearne’s convenient central Texas location.  80% of the Texas population currently lives within a 200-mile radius of Hearne.  This places Hearne smack dab in the middle of one of the fastest growing areas in the nation.

In the coming years, the population of the Brazos Valley (of which Hearne is a part) is projected to grow by almost 40%, rising from 267,085 in 2002 to 370,314 in 2004.  This population trend is expected to bring even more people closer to Hearne.

Make Your Business Readily Accessible

Conveniently located in central Texas, Hearne is only a stone's throw from Bryan-College Station, Texas A&M University, and the George Bush Presidential Library.  It is a short drive to Austin, the University of Texas, and the Johnson Presidential Library.  Situated in the center of a triangle formed by Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, distances to nearby cities and access to interstate highways are as follows:

Hearne - Austin 90 miles I-35
Hearne - Bryan/College Station 18 - 25 miles
Hearne - Conroe 100 miles I-45
Hearne - Dallas 150 miles I-20, I-30, I-35, I-45

Ship & Receive IN All Directions

Hearne is nestled at the crossroads of two major Union Pacific Railroad lines as well as several major highways.

Railroad Access The former east-west Missouri Pacific Railroad line converges with the former north-south Southern Pacific Railroad line in Hearne. These lines are now operated as Union Pacific's routes through central Texas. Two other rail lines run through nearby Valley Junction in the Brazos River bottom. Rail access is available from Hearne to destinations throughout the United States and beyond.

Highway Access TX 6, US 79, and US 190 cross in the Hearne city limits. TX 6 stretches north-south from its origin near the Galveston Causeway through Waco to the Texas-Oklahoma state line near Quanah; US 79 goes east-west from its origin at I 35 in Round Rock to the Texas-Louisiana state line near Bethany and I 20; US 190 stretches from the Texas-Louisiana state line near Bon Wier through Temple to Iraan where it connects with I 10. TX 21 passes through Bryan some 18 miles south of Hearne on its route from San Marcos to the Texas-Louisiana state line. Four-lanes wide in many places, these modern thoroughfares easily handle their traffic loads and are kept in good shape by the Texas Department Of Transportation.

ACCESS customerS & potential customers

An average of 17,000 vehicles pass through Hearne every day. This figure is significantly greater when area universities host football games, hold graduations, sponsor music, entertainment, and other events. If your company needs access to large numbers of customers and potential customers in central Texas, many of them are likely passing through Hearne.

ENJOY Easy Air Access

If your business requires access to a landing strip, the Hearne Municipal Airport (www.hearneairport.info) is one of central Texas' best kept secrets.  Built to exacting military standards in the 1950s as an auxiliary Bryan Air Base, the runway has a 33" concrete and steel reinforced infrastructure that is 7,300 feet long.  The paved 4,000 foot lighted runway has a North over-run of 1,100 feet and a South over-run of 2,200 feet. With a pilot lounge that is open 7 AM - 7 PM, the Hearne Airport offers self-service access to aviation 100 LL fuel 24/7.

Once used as a runway to shoot landings by fighter jets from the Strategic Air Command, the Hearne Airport now hosts Robertson County's Air Weather Observation System (www.crh.noaa.gov/data/obhistory/KLHB.html).  This link to the National Weather Service provides pilots and others with up-to-the-minute local weather conditions.  Envisioned improvements include:  building a new pilot lounge, installing a landing approach system, hiring a fixed base operator, building new hangars, repaving the airport aprons as well as the entire length of the runway, offering Jet-A fuel, and repaving airport access roads.

ACCESS An Ocean Of Water

Hearne and Robertson County sit on an ocean of water. The Simsboro member of the massive Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer is situated directly beneath Hearne and Robertson County. Deep underground, this body of water will likely supply this and other regions of Texas with badly needed water in the coming centuries. Why locate your business in an area that has no water and wind up paying the added cost of having water shipped to you? If your company depends on access to water, you will never run out of this valuable resource if you locate your business directly above the source in Hearne.

Have Plenty Of Room For Your Business To Grow
