HUNTING

2002 - 2003 Robertson County Animal Hunting Seasons

SQUIRREL -  May 1-31 and Oct. 1-Feb. 2. Daily bag limit: 10.

WHITETAIL DEER - Archery Season, Sept. 28-Oct. 27; General Season, Nov. 2-Jan. 5 (Buck only, unless LAMPS or MLD permits have been issued.) Bag limit for all seasons combined: 3 deer limit 1 buck and 2 antlerless.

(Shooting Hours: one-half hour before sunrise to sunset)

Ducks

NOTE: Canvasback season is CLOSED. Pintail season is restricted by zone. Pintail bag limit is 1 when the season is open.

NORTH ZONE: Hearne & Robertson County Are In The North Duck Zone
Hunt Type: Youth Date: Oct. 26-27
Hunt Type: Regular Date: Nov. 9-10 and Nov. 16-Jan. 26
Hunt Type: Falconry Date: Jan. 27-Feb. 17
DUCK DAILY BAG LIMIT:
6, to include no more than 5 mallards or Mexican-like ducks, only 2 of which may be hens; 3 scaup (lesser and greater scaup combined); 2 wood ducks; 2 redheads and 1 mottled duck. One pintail may be taken during that portion of the season that pintails are legal (see below). Canvasback: CLOSED.
PINTAIL:
North Zone: Dec. 19-Jan. 26.
MERGANSERS DAILY BAG LIMIT:
5, to include no more than 1 hooded merganser.
COOT DAILY BAG LIMIT:
15.
POSSESSION LIMIT:
Twice the daily bag limit.

Geese

EASTERN ZONE: Hearne & Robertson County Are In Eastern Geese Zone (North Section)
Species: Dark Geese Date: Oct. 26-Jan. 19
Species: Light Geese (that portion that lies north of IH-10) Date: Oct. 26-Jan. 26
Species: Light Geese Conservation Order (that portion that lies north of IH-10) Date: Jan. 27-Mar. 30
EASTERN ZONE DAILY BAG LIMIT:
Light geese – 20 in the aggregate;
Dark geese – 3 in the aggregate, to include no more than 2 Canada geese or 2 white-fronted geese.
POSSESSION LIMIT:
Twice the daily bag limit for dark geese, no possession limit for light geese. During the Conservation Order there is no daily bag or possession limit on light geese.

Migratory Game Bird Hunting Seasons

The daily bag limit can include no more than 2 white-tipped (white-fronted doves). The possession limit on white-tipped doves is twice the daily bag limit.

Fort Parker State Park Lake South of Mexia on Texas Highway 14; Channel catfish, blue catfish, white bass, crappie.
Gibbons Creek Reservoir On Gibbons Creek in the Navasota River drainage in Grimes County, just off Texas Highway 30 at Carlos, 20 miles east of Bryan/College Station; Largemouth bass, channel catfish, blue catfish, flathead catfish, white and black crappie, and bluegill.
Granger Lake Located Northeast of Austin in Williamson County, on the San Gabriel River near the towns of Granger and Taylor. Crappie, white bass, and catfish.

Tradinghouse Creek On FM 2957 east of Waco; Largemouth bass, channel catfish, red drum, crappie.
Walter E. Long Lake Travis County, just east of the City of Austin. Also known as Decker Lake Largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, catfish, and sunfish.
