• Crane Plumbing Corporation - Crane Plumbing manufactures a selection of china, steel, and acrylic bathroom fixtures.  The company's products are precision-crafted to create designs that are attractive, practical, and affordable.  One of Crane Plumbing's U.S. manufacturing facilities is located on Hwy. 6 outside of Hearne;

• Franklin Independent School District - The Franklin ISD operates three public schools at different campuses;

• Franklin Nursing Home;

• GATX Corporation - GATX Rail is part of a worldwide corporation.  It specializes in providing a full range of services for repairing, cleaning, painting, and lining railcars.  One of GATX Rail's three North American service centers is located in Hearne.  Positioned between two Union Pacific main lines, the Hearne facility is situated on 141 acres and has 8.9 miles of trackage.  Its 210,000 square foot repair area can accommodate up to 400 cars;

• Hearne Health Care Center;

• Hearne Independent School District - The Hearne ISD operates four public schools at different campuses;

• Lifetime Doors Company - Farmington Hills, Michigan-based Lifetime Doors manufactures a range of quality hollow core, solid core, bi-fold, fire, pre-hung, and panel doors.  One of the company's six regional centers, the Gulf Coast Center, operates out of Hearne;

• Lodging Enterprises Incorporated;

• Mumford Independent School District - The Mumford ISD operates two schools on one campus;

• Robertson County;

• Sanderson Farms, Inc. - Sanderson Farms is engaged in the production, processing, marketing, and distribution of fresh and frozen chicken and prepared food items.  The company has a hatchery, feed mill, and processing unit on the Hearne-side of Bryan (some 18 miles away in Brazos County).  The company also has a feed mill in Robertson County on Hwy 79 near New Baden (outside of Franklin).  Many Robertson County residents also raise chickens on their farms as part of Sanderson Farms' operations in the county;

• Twin Oaks Power Plant - Sempra Energy Resources recently acquired the Twin Oaks Power Plant from Texas-New Mexico Power Company.  Located between Calvert and Bremond in the Tidwell Prairie community, this facility is the cleanest coal plant in Texas.  Fueled by lignite coal provided by the Walnut Creek Mining Company, the plant's generating capacity is 305-megawatts or enough power for more than 175,000 customers;

• Union Pacific Railroad - The Union Pacific Railroad maintains an active rail yard in Hearne.  This location, where the east-west Missouri Pacific and north-south Southern Pacific Railroads once crossed, now constitutes Union Pacific's Subdivision 144 (see UP Subdivision Map).  Hearne is a UP-designated crew change stop; &

• Walnut Creek Mining Company - The Walnut Creek Mining Company operates a lignite coal mine between Calvert and Bremond in the Tidwell Prairie community.  This facility, which is one of seventeen lignite coal mines currently operating in Texas, provides coal to the Twin Oaks Power Plant above.
