Welcome Back, Ags!

Howdy! I hope you are enjoying the beginning of the semester and that you have been to at least one College Republicans meeting (because that, after all, helps you to enjoy the beginning of your semester even more).

As a club, we are focusing on two main issues this semester. Dr. Ray Bowen, President of Texas A&M, has said that he will decide this academic year whether or not to sign the multiculturalism requirement. This requirement would make students take six hours in U.S. cultures and international cultures.

The stance of the College Republicans is that classes should be available for people who are interested in a specific culture. lf I, as the daughter of a Guatemalan immigrant, am interested in the history of Central America, I should be able to take that class. Where our club departs with the proponents of multiculturalism is in requiring students to take these classes.

Additionally, if we are forced to take a multiculturalism class, womem's studies and politically correct classes having to do with America's abuses should not be on the list. We believe that learning about women and the abuses of the white male is not going to help us move towards a global environment, as is often the justification for these classes. If it is a multiculturalism requirement, then let's learn about other cultures.

We plan to fight this requirement to the end and we hope that you will join us in the fight. If you are interested in pursuing this, please join us as we meet to discuss strategies on this issue.

We will also be gearing up for campaign '96 this semester and need students to help us with getting ready for the Presidential elections. So far, we have students interested in Phil Gramm and Pat Buchanan. If you would like to work on either one of these campaigns or are interested in another candidate, feel free to call me.

We do plenty of other things in this club. We need people with an interest in writing, public relations, planning activities and events, working tables, making phone calls, and raising money. Basically, we need all the help we can get to secure conservatism on campus and to promote the Republican party throughout the state. Join us and come find out why we are called.....

THE BEST PARTY ON CAMPUS!
