HEARNE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVE 

Primary Responsibilities: Serve as tourism director for Hearne & vicinity. Directly promote Hearne tourism by encouraging out-of-city & out-of-county visitors to come to Hearne, stay overnight in local motels/inns, visit local attractions, & attend special events. Aggressively promote the growth of heritage tourism by developing & disseminating brochures & website content showcasing Hearne’s historic commercial & residential districts, Camp Hearne WWII POW Camp, & Hearne Depot. Develop & implement advertising campaigns & activities designed to attract tourists to Hearne & vicinity. Develop & implement art-related programs that promote local tourism. Promote Hearne as a venue for special events that attract outside visitors. Maintain & promote the chamber office as Hearne’s Visitor Information Center, complete with local tourist information & maps, motel/inn information, etc. Aggressively participate in & promote regional & other tourism development outreaches (like Texas Brazos Trail). Get Hearne listed in tourism-related publications. Develop & maintain a tourist information telephone hotline. 

Other Responsibilities: Direct the day-to-day activities of the chamber to promote tourism, business, industrial & job development, & improvement in the community. Oversee all financial functions, including preparation of annual budget & monthly financial statements to the Board of Directors & a quarterly statement & presentation the Hearne City Council. Prepare tax reports (state & federal). Interact with local, regional, & state governmental agencies & elected officials. Communicate effectively & be a team-oriented person with strong interpersonal skills. Maintain the chamber office to the highest business & professional standards. This includes maintenance & personally cleaning of the building. Attend all meetings of the Texas Brazos Trail, yearly meeting of RSVP, Brazos Valley Council of Governments seminar meetings & workshops, & as many functions as possible that are hosted by the city & county. 

Requirements: Exceptional organizational & management skills with strong written & interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated tourism promotion & development skills, sales & fund-raising abilities. Management experience in Chamber of Commerce associations, economic development agencies, other not-for-profit entities, or business management background. Computer skills are essential.
