The
Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce
extends a very warm welcome to
newcomers and visitors to the
Hondo area and Medina County.
We are a very active community
partner. Our membership includes
the majority of the Hondo area and
encompasses D'Hanis, Tarpley,
Yancey, New Fountain, and Quihi
businesses along with the
interesting and caring individual
members. (By clicking on the
cities whose names are underlined,
you will be taken to their
websites.)
The Chamber along with the
Hondo Area Economic Development
Committee (HEDC), work together to
develop our existing businesses
while marketing and encouraging
new businesses to settle in the
Hondo area. In addition to our
economic development efforts, the
Chamber works to improve the
quality of life for the folks who
live and work in the area with a
variety of community wide events,
activities and community
recognition.
The Hondo area has 6 apartment
complexes and quite a few rental
houses, 4 free parks &
playgrounds, 2 parks that require
a deposit, the Medina County Fair
Hall that is available for rental,
a soccer field, 2 baseball parks,
a bowling alley, a movie theater
that shows the most current movie
releases, a public swimming pool,
a nine-hole golf course and so
much more.
Fire protection for the area is
provided through the Hondo, Yancey
and D'Hanis Volunteer Fire
Departments.
Hondo has a great police
department and is also home to the
Medina County Sheriff's Office and
the Texas Department of Public
Safety.
The communities of Hondo and
D'Hanis boast of first rate
educational systems, (Hondo
spreading across four campuses)
with active and successful
programs in academics, sports,
music and agriculture.
Last year, 91% of Hondo High
School graduates pursued higher
education or additional vocational
training, 5% joined the military
and 4% went directly into the
workforce.
Hondo is also the home of Medina
Community Hospital, a critical
access facility with a level IV
trauma designation, offering many
medical services to the community
and surrounding area. The E.R. is
fully staffed 24/7 to handle
emergencies.
We also provide a venue for local
businesses to advertise their
services on our Advertising Page.
If you would like to place an ad
on this web site, contact the
Chamber.
The Chamber also provides a
variety of souvenirs and
merchandise that can be purchased
in our office. Take a look
at what we have to offer by
visiting the Merchandise Page for
images and pricing information.
While a great deal more of Hondo
area specific information can be
found on this site, we encourage
you to visit us in downtown Hondo.
The Chamber can be your source for
a wide range of information,
housing availability and
up-to-date lists of hunting
