Lake Granger

Size: 4,400 acres
Age: Impounded in 1980

Location: Lies on the San Gabriel River just north of Taylor, off Farm Road 971 in Williamson County.

Description: This lake was constructed for flood control and water conservation. Parks and Wildlife Management Areas completely occupy the shoreline. This turbid impoundment has a maximum depth of 60 feet.

Comments: This is one lake where the striped bass, so successful in other reservoirs, has not contributed to the recreation resource.

Fishing Tips: In turbid lakes like this one, catfish are always a good bet. Catch them on frozen shrimp, bloodbait, cheese or earthworms.
