Location: Lies on the Sabine River in Hunt, Rains and Van Zandt counties. The dam is on Farm Road 47 about 20 miles south of Greenville.
Description: This large reservoir holds moderately turbid, fairly fertile water averaging 12 feet deep. Deepest point at the dam is 70 feet. Much of the native timber has rotted, but the lake remains quite productive.

Comments: For white bass and other open-water species, this may be one of the best fisheries in Texas.

Fishing Tips: Here, schools of white bass give away their presence by driving shad and other bait to the surface. Then, gulls circle overhead and dive in for a quick meal. Catch your limit on spoons, topwater plugs and spinners.

Facilities: Both main highway bridges have free public launch ramps. Otherwise, public access is limited, though private marinas and camps abound.
