Somerville Area Museum
The Area Museum in Somerville along with Heritage Square is sponsored by the Somerville Historical Society, Inc. Heritage Square contains two of the first lots
platted in Somerville in 1883. The Museum, opened in 1983, is housed in an earlv 1900 building, formerly a saloon with upstairs rooms, and a refurbished adjoining building with connecting doors. The Museum has exhibits from Indian artifacts to rooms of furniture reflecting earlier life in the area. Heritage Square with its bell tower, flag
pole and stage is a downtown center for various performances, especially the location of the opening of the Christmas season in the community. The Museum is open on Saturdays from 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm and upon requests from school or groups.
THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR VISITING THE MUSEUM
