every Aggie has a home away from home in the MSC
the traditions came about in the late 1940's when some former students were looking for a site to build a memorial to
their classmates who had lost their lives in the world wars; at the same time, A&M students were looking for a way to
create a student center, but did not have the money to do so
the two combined and the MSC was dedicated Muster Day in 1951 in honor of all aggies who give their lives in all
wars, past and future
fifty-five trees are planted in front of the MSC, surrounding Simpson Drill Field in honor of fifty-five Aggies who gave
their lives in WWI, fifty-five flags fly around Kyle to commemorate those same Aggies
the MSC houses a barber shop, two restaurants, a bookstore, along with many other opportunities for students
MSC also houses the Flagroom, which is the 'living' room for A&M students
