"Was watching part of the Texas A&M and Texas game this Saturday, and the half time show. Not a resident of Texas of graduate, but have thought a lot about the Bonfire and the 90 year history of this event.
Realize there is a lot of discussion taking place as to what should be or not be done as a result of this tragedy, and would like to offer my thoughts:
In the United States we are very quick to give up on traditions with our communities and the county, which is really sad in itself as we have lost so much over the past many years because of a tragedy such as the BonFire, or people lose interest and very quickly we being to lose touch which our past and what has made our county, schools and community great. My suggestion is that the BonFire needs to carry on, but needs to be looked at from a structure point of view, and make it better. It really needs to be carried on on only for the past 90 years but more so now in memory of the 12 students who died in the collapse. I would hate to see such a long lived tradition pass by just because of the accident. Feel that the University need to build upon this accident, keep the tradition alive, make it better, and dedicate the carrying on of the BonFire in the name and memory of those who died for the tradition.
Thank you.
