The outpour of love from UT's campus has not only been surprising, since they are our largest rivalry, but extremely sincere and moving. We have appreciated their support more than they'll ever know.
This email was written to me from a friend of mine from high school who goes to UT now. I thought it was a beautiful example of their loving attitude during this difficult time.
"Of course my prayers have been with all of the families and friends and victims of the bonfire. This was definitely a true tragedy. I think if any good can be taken from this, it is that we all realize how unimportant the rivalries are, how a game is just a game, and that when it came down to it - we all pulled together in sorrow and prayer. Please let all your friends know that everyone here at UT shares your pain. We have Maroon, White, and Orange ribbons all over campus which I think is a really nice touch away from the division and competition that is so pronounced between our schools. We are all truly and deeply sorry for this tragedy. I probably won't go to A&M for the game now, I think it just won't be the same this year. Hope to see you at home though. -- Jill"
